Over two years. Countless hours in the saddle. 2 Different bikes. Rain, dust, rocky trails, races and many podiums. Through it all, these wheels have performed flawlessly.
I still remember the first ride on them—how effortlessly they accelerated (I felt like I was on an e-bike), how confidently they tracked through corners, and how smooth they felt over rough terrain. That first impression stuck. After two full seasons of riding, training, and racing, these wheels have earned my complete trust.
Whether it was pushing through long days of training or going all-in on race day, these wheels consistently delivered. The stiffness is just right—responsive when you're hammering out of the saddle, yet forgiving enough to take the edge off rough trails.

I always had issues with aluminum rims in corners—they felt soft, almost like the bike was made of two separate pieces. But with these carbon wheels, everything changed. The bike now feels like a single, solid unit—no flex, no vague or “jelly” sensation. The wheels hold their line with precision and stay exactly where you put them.
The weight is low enough to make a real difference on climbs, but they never feel flimsy or fragile. In fact, I’ve pushed them through some brutal conditions—wet roots, loose rock descents, high-speed compressions—and they’ve stayed true, both in performance and durability. Every time I brought the bike in for a check-up at my local service shop, the mechanic would say the same thing: there’s nothing to do—the wheels are still in perfect condition. And that’s after I specifically asked him to check every spoke and make sure the wheels were true.
And have I mentioned that I used them in a long eMTB race? Yes! A full-on, heavy eMTB in one of the rockiest races in my country: 55 km with 2,400 meters of climbing and descending on incredibly rough terrain. The wheels didn’t just survive—they thrived.
One thing I’ve especially come to appreciate is their reliability. I never had to second-guess line choices or worry about flex under load. That kind of confidence lets you focus entirely on your riding. And when you're racing, that mental edge matters just as much as the mechanical one.
The wheels I custom ordered are the A29C30D20 UL model. At the time, they were the lightest 30 mm internal MTB rims available—around 285 grams each—and I believe they still hold that title. The total weight of my build, using Bitex hubs and Sapim aero spokes, came in at approximately 1,250 grams, which, to be honest, is an insane number.
And just to clarify—the hubs I used aren’t even the lightest available. With the right combination of lightweight hubs and spokes, it’s entirely possible to build a complete wheelset around 1,000 grams. EIE Carbon even offers builds with DT Swiss 180 EXP hubs if you want to go as light as possible.
And yes, I said custom ordered. What do I mean by that? Well, EIE Carbon lets you choose and customize everything—the look, the materials, the components (spokes, hubs, nipples, etc.), the type of carbon fiber, and even the rim color. That level of customization is something most well-known wheel manufacturers simply don’t offer.
Did I mention the price? All EIE Carbon wheels come at a fraction of the cost of big-name carbon wheel brands. Honestly, being able to fully customize a set of wheels to your exact preferences for at least half the price of established carbon brands is just a no-brainer.
After two years, they’re still going strong—no major maintenance, no issues, just a set of wheels that keeps showing up and delivering. For me, that’s what sets great gear apart: performance that fades into the background because it just works, ride after ride.
Now in my third season with this wheelset, I still love them. I also have another set of carbon wheels that came stock with my Orbea bike. They’re decent, but noticeably heavier and less stiff. To be honest, they’ve become my backup set—prepped with tires and a cassette, ready to go just in case. But after two full seasons of racing with the EIE Carbon wheels, I’ve rarely needed to use them. Maybe only for bike park days, when I prefer running heavier wheels with chunkier tires.
I have to mention another crucial thing about the EIE Carbon team—they're incredibly fast at responding to questions and support requests. I mean, they should be, considering how fast their wheels are! Fast team, fast wheels—makes sense, right?
