In the ever-evolving world of cycling, carbon fiber technology has transformed wheel design and performance. The UL (Ultra Lightweight) version stands out as a pinnacle of innovation, offering cyclists a unique blend of strength, weight savings, and aerodynamics.
What Are UL Version Carbon Fiber Rims?
UL version carbon fiber rims are meticulously engineered to deliver maximum performance while minimizing weight.
These rims cater to serious cyclists who seek the ultimate in speed and responsiveness, whether on the road or the trail. Manufactured with advanced carbon fiber materials and techniques, UL rims are built to endure the harshest conditions while providing an exhilarating riding experience.
How Can We Make It Lighter Than the SL Version?
The SL version utilizes a carefully balanced combination of T700 and T800 materials.
When customers inquired about the possibility of manufacturing rims using a fully T800 layup to achieve even lighter hoops, we took on the challenge. Our engineering team initially hesitated, concerned that rims made entirely from T800 might be too stiff and brittle.
However, after thorough investigation and precise carbon layup scheduling, we adjusted the angles, layers, and application order of our prepreg T800 carbon fiber to optimize efficiency. The result? A new series that redefines carbon fiber wheel weights, becoming your new secret weapon on the track.
You can expect lighter wheels and faster cycling with our UL version, which saves approximately 80 grams per wheelset compared to the SL version. If you require an exceptionally light wheelset, our UL version offers various customization options.
Advantages of UL Version Carbon Fiber Rims
1. Weight Reduction:
One of the greatest advantages of UL carbon fiber rims is their lightweight construction. Significantly lighter than aluminum or traditional carbon rims, UL rims enable riders to accelerate quickly, climb effortlessly, and maintain higher speeds on flat terrain. The reduced rotational mass enhances overall handling and responsiveness.
2. Increased Strength and Durability:
UL carbon fiber rims are remarkably strong despite their lightweight nature. The innovative layering techniques used in their construction yield a high strength-to-weight ratio, allowing them to withstand the rigors of aggressive riding and rough terrain. They are resistant to impacts and environmental factors, ensuring long-lasting performance.
3. Improved Aerodynamics:
UL carbon fiber rims are designed for aerodynamic efficiency. Their shape and profile reduce drag and enhance airflow, allowing cyclists to cut through the wind more effectively. This aerodynamic advantage translates to increased speed and efficiency during rides.
Limitations of the UL Version
While UL carbon fiber rims have many advantages, there are some limitations to consider:
1.Rider Weight: Recommended for riders weighing less than 90 kg for XC cycling ,max 100kg rider weight for road disc and cx gravel.
2. Material Weave: Only UD (unidirectional) weave is available since it allows for a lighter layup compared to other types of weave.
3. Cycling Terrain: Suitable only for XC and CX disc gravel riding.
4. Brake Compatibility: As T800 is not high-temperature epoxy resin system, we do not recommend this version rims for use with rim brakes.
