In recent years, disc brake systems have gradually become the mainstream in the carbon wheel market. However, for riders who still pursue lightweight carbon rims, clean aesthetics, and the traditional braking feel, rim brakes remain an irreplaceable choice. Rim brakes work by having the brake pads directly clamp the rim surface, eliminating the need for rotors and calipers. As a result, the entire wheelset is lighter and offers better aerodynamics. Additionally, rim brakes have a simpler structure, are easier to maintain, and have a more streamlined appearance.
However, rim brake systems do have certain limitations, especially when it comes to heat dissipation and braking stability during long descents. To address these issues, EIE Carbon has continued to innovate and upgrade its technology. We have transitioned from traditional high TG resin brake tracks to grooved graphene brake tracks, resulting in significant improvements in heat resistance, water drainage, and overall braking performance.
Currently, EIE Carbon offers seven types of brake tracks to choose from: High TG Resin Graphene Brake, C-Grooved Graphene Brake, AC3-Grooved Graphene Brake, High TG Resin UD Brake, C-Grooved UD Brake, AC3-Grooved UD Brake, and Basalt Brake. The Basalt Brake, as the first generation of carbon rim brake tracks, has gradually been replaced by newer materials like high TG resin and graphene due to their superior performance.

At present, EIE Carbon mainly recommends three high-performance brake track options: High TG Resin Graphene Brake, C-Grooved Graphene Brake, and AC3-Grooved Graphene Brake.
1) High TG Resin Graphene Brake (Recommended Option)
This technology incorporates graphene into high TG resin, allowing it to withstand friction heat up to 250°C without deformation. Graphene enhances the thermal conductivity of the resin, allowing heat to dissipate more quickly into the carbon layers and preventing localized overheating. This design provides stable braking performance in both dry and wet conditions, particularly excelling in long descents and high-speed riding, with strong resistance to rim overheating.
It is ideal for riders who frequently ride long descents, are heavier, or ride at high speeds.

2) C-Grooved Graphene Brake (Balanced Performance)
This version builds upon graphene-enhanced resin and adds C-shaped grooves to the surface. The grooves improve water drainage and heat dissipation, leading to smoother and more stable braking. This option performs well in wet weather conditions and during long descents, providing excellent braking performance on slippery roads.
It is ideal for riders who prioritize all-weather performance and downhill stability.

3) AC3-Grooved Graphene Brake (Top-Level Braking Performance)
This option uses advanced AC3 micro-groove surface treatment combined with graphene-enhanced high TG resin. The AC3 grooves allow for faster water drainage and higher friction during braking. The heat resistance is also up to 250°C, offering superior braking performance in both dry and wet conditions. Although it is more expensive to manufacture, this is the highest-performing brake track option from EIE Carbon, offering excellent thermal dissipation and braking power.
It is ideal for riders who seek top-level braking performance, prioritize safety, and value premium quality.

When selecting a road rim from EIE Carbon, the default option is the High TG Resin Graphene Brake. If you would like to upgrade to the C-Grooved Graphene Brake or AC3-Grooved Graphene Brake, an additional cost of 20 USD per rim will apply. If you are interested in other brake track options, please contact us in advance.
Whether you are a traditional rim brake enthusiast focused on lightweight carbon rims and appearance, or a performance rider seeking superior braking stability on long descents, EIE Carbon has the right brake track option for you.
